Account Setup

What do I need to use AutoDM?
You need an Instagram Business or Creator account (free to switch).
How do I switch to a Business account?
Open the Instagram app → Profile → Settings → Account → Select 'Switch to Professional account'. Both Business and Creator types work. Switching is free and you can revert to a personal account anytime.
Is a Facebook Page still required?
No. With the new flow, you can connect Instagram directly without a Facebook Page.
How do I connect my Instagram?
Log in with Google and grant all requested permissions. The onboarding wizard will guide you through selecting your Instagram account.
Can I use a personal Instagram account?
No. AutoDM works with Instagram Business or Creator accounts only.
I manage my Page through Meta Business Suite. Can I connect?
Yes. On the connection screen, just select the account you want to use.
How long does setup take?
Usually 3 to 5 minutes. Log in with Google and choose your Instagram account.
I connected, but my posts are not shown
Right after connecting, posts can take 1 to 2 minutes to load. Please refresh once. If it still does not appear, log out and log in again.
What data is saved, and can I delete it?
We save data needed to run the service (account info, your rules, and delivery logs). If you want your data removed, follow the steps on the data deletion page.
How can I confirm setup is fully complete?
Setup is complete when all 3 are true:
① Connection status is Active in Settings
② Recent posts are visible
③ One test reply or DM succeeds

If any item fails, reconnect first, then run a test again.
What should I check before going live?
Check these 5 items:
① Rule is Active
② Target post is correct
③ Keyword variations are included
④ Test send succeeded
⑤ Monthly limit is understood

These checks prevent most early mistakes.

How to Use

How do I log in?
Click 'Login with Google' on the login page. Then connect your Instagram account.
How do I connect my Instagram?
After logging in, the onboarding wizard will guide you to select your Instagram account from the list. All features including comment replies and DM sending are enabled through Instagram connection permissions.
How do I create an automation?
Go to Automations → Click '+ Create New' → Choose a template or create from scratch → Set trigger keywords and actions (comment reply/DM) → Click 'Publish' to activate.
Any tips for setting up keywords?
You can set multiple keywords separated by commas. For example: 'price, cost, pricing, how much'. Using synonyms increases the response rate. Keywords are matched partially within comments.
Can I apply automation to specific posts only?
Yes. When creating an automation, use the 'Target Post' section to select a specific post. If no post is selected, the automation applies to comments on all posts.
Are there DM sending limits?
Yes. In many cases, DMs can only be sent within 24 hours after a comment is received. Each plan also has a monthly limit.
Can I switch between multiple Instagram accounts?
No. One AutoDM account can connect to only one Instagram account. If you want to operate another Instagram account, create a separate AutoDM account.
What should I check if keywords do not trigger?
Check these in order:
① The rule is set to Active
② The correct target post is selected
③ The comment includes your keyword
④ You have not reached your monthly limit
Can I pause auto replies for a while?
Yes. Turn the rule to Inactive in the automation list. Turn it back to Active to resume.
When do setting changes take effect?
Most changes apply right after you save. Jobs that were already queued may still run with old settings, so we recommend one quick test after saving.
What are common reasons DMs fail?
The top reasons are:
① Too much time has passed since the comment
② The recipient limits DM reception
③ You reached your monthly limit
Check message history first to see the failure reason.
How should I create my first rule?
Use this starter template:
① Keywords: "price, pricing, cost"
② Comment reply: "I sent details by DM"
③ DM body: summary + clear next step
④ Target: start with one post
⑤ Run one test comment

Start simple, then expand after you see results.
How do I prevent accidental replies?
Use this checklist:
① Do not make keywords too broad
② Start with limited target posts
③ Avoid fixed promises in auto text
④ Test after each change

Limiting target posts first is the safest approach.

DM Booking

What is a DM Booking Form?
A feature that lets you accept bookings entirely through Instagram DMs — no manual replies needed. AutoDM automatically asks for name, preferred date/time, and contact info, then confirms the booking.

Availability is determined by AutoDM's built-in calendar, so no external calendar (Google Calendar, etc.) is required. When a booking comes in, the owner is notified by email at their sign-in address, and the customer also receives an automatic confirmation email.
How do I create a booking form?
Go to 'DM Booking Forms' in the sidebar → 'Create New'.
① Select the booking template
② Edit what you want to ask (name, date/time, contact info, etc.)
③ Set business hours and slot duration
④ Configure the booking confirmation message
⑤ Preview to check the flow
⑥ Hit Publish
⑦ When creating an automation, select 'Use this form'

Publishing requires a Pro plan or above. Creating and previewing is free.
Does AutoDM integrate with external calendars (Google Calendar, etc.)?
No. AutoDM uses its own built-in calendar and does not integrate with Google Calendar, iCloud, Outlook, or any other external calendar.

Available slots are derived automatically from your business hours and existing confirmed bookings. If two bookings attempt to take the same slot at almost the same moment, a database uniqueness constraint automatically rejects the later one, so double-booking cannot occur. Confirmed bookings show up in the Booking Management page.
Can I use it on the free plan?
You can create and preview forms on the free plan. However, publishing a form to actually accept bookings via DM requires a Pro plan or above.

Upgrading to Pro enables the publish button so you can start accepting bookings right away. If you downgrade from Pro to Free, published forms remain in the DB but automatically stop accepting new bookings — they resume immediately when you upgrade back to Pro.
How do I check new bookings?
When a booking is confirmed, you can check it in the following ways:
① The 'Booking Management' page shows all bookings (CSV export supported)
② An email notification is sent automatically to the owner's sign-in address
③ The customer also receives an automatic confirmation email (if the form collects an email address)

The booking management page shows all booking details — customer info, date/time, status — and you can also send a manual reminder from the detail view.
How do I cancel a booking?
Go to the 'Booking Management' page, select the booking, and click 'Cancel'. After cancellation, the time slot becomes available again so another follower can book it.

Customer-side self-cancellation (from within the DM thread) is not available in the current version. When a customer asks to cancel, the owner should cancel manually from the Booking Management page.
Are reminder emails sent automatically?
Yes. A reminder email is automatically sent to the booker's email address 24 hours before the appointment. No special setup needed — as long as the form collects an email address, reminders are sent automatically.

If you want to send an additional reminder manually, open the booking from the Booking Management page and click 'Send reminder'.
How do I set business hours?
Configure in the 'Business Hours' section of the form editor.
① Set opening and closing times for each day of the week (one time window per day)
② Uncheck closed days
③ Set slot duration (15 / 30 / 45 / 60 / 90 / 120 min)
④ Set how far ahead bookings can be made (7 / 14 / 21 / 30 days)
⑤ Timezone (default: Asia/Tokyo)

Slots outside business hours are hidden from followers. Also, **same-day bookings are not accepted — only the next day and beyond** appear as candidates. Due to Instagram Quick Reply limits, up to 13 date/time candidates are shown per screen (remaining candidates appear on the next screen once the customer picks one of the initial options).

AI DM

What is AI DM?
AI DM is a feature that automatically replies to Instagram DMs using AI. Based on your posts and knowledge (FAQ, business info, etc.), it handles customer inquiries 24/7.
How do I add knowledge?
Add knowledge from the 'Knowledge' page in the bottom menu (/knowledge).

① Manual: Directly enter business hours, FAQ, etc.
② Post Sync: Auto-import your Instagram post content

AI generates responses from your registered knowledge. The more knowledge you add, the more accurate the responses.
What happens if the AI gives a wrong answer?
If AI cannot answer well, the message is marked as 'Needs Action'. Check it in the AI DM logs, reply yourself, then click 'Mark as Resolved'.

Note: email notifications are sent when a customer explicitly asks for handoff (for example, sending "staff" or "human").
Are there usage limits for AI DM?
Yes, monthly limits vary by plan:

• Free: 10/month
• Pro: 100/month
• Business: 500/month

Limits reset on the 1st of each month. Check remaining usage at the top of the AI DM page.
What should I do with 'Needs Action' DMs?
'Needs Action' means the AI couldn't answer. Follow these steps:

① Check the content in the 'Needs Action' tab in AI DM logs
② Reply directly in Instagram using the 'Reply on Instagram' button
③ Click 'Mark as Resolved' after replying

Marking as resolved re-enables AI auto-responses for that user.
What's the difference between 'All', 'AI Answered', 'Needs Action', 'Resolved', and 'Unsent'?
• All: Shows all logs
• AI Answered: DMs answered by AI
• Needs Action: You need to reply
• Resolved: You finished handling it
• Unsent: Sending failed
How can I make AI replies sound more natural?
Add short, clear examples in your knowledge. Include common questions and your preferred reply style.
Can I pause AI DM temporarily?
Yes. Turn off the 'Enable AI DM' switch. Turn it on again when you want to resume.
How should I write knowledge to improve answer quality?
Use clear facts with numbers and time.
Good: 'Business hours are 10:00-18:00 on weekdays. Last booking is 17:30.'
Not good: 'We are usually open until evening.'
What should I add first in AI DM setup?
Start with 3 blocks:
① Basics (hours, location, closed days)
② Common questions (price, booking, payment)
③ Fallback text when AI is unsure

Short and accurate text works better than long paragraphs.
How can I reduce "Needs Action" messages?
Review "Needs Action" weekly and add missing answers into knowledge.

If the same question appears 3+ times, create a dedicated answer for it.
How can AI replies sound more like my brand?
Add 3 to 5 real examples of your tone, such as greetings, closing lines, and polite decline wording.

AI matches style better when concrete examples are provided.

Moderation

What is the Moderation feature?
Moderation uses AI to automatically detect and hide harmful comments (hate speech, spam, etc.) on your posts. It protects your content and community.

Results are viewable on the Moderation page, and false positives can be manually restored.
How do I enable Moderation?
Turn on the toggle switch at the top of the Moderation page. Once enabled, new comments on target posts are automatically evaluated by AI.

Select target posts via 'Manage Target Posts'. If no posts are selected, all posts are monitored.
What types of comments get hidden?
AI detects and auto-hides comments including:

• Hate speech, insults
• Discriminatory language
• Spam, promotions
• Personal information exposure
• Other community-inappropriate content

Borderline cases are marked as 'Unreviewed' for manual review.
Can I restore a comment that was incorrectly hidden?
Yes. Go to the 'Hidden' tab on the Moderation page, find the false positive, and click 'Unhide' to restore it.
Are there usage limits for Moderation?
Yes, monthly limits vary by plan:

• Free: 50/month
• Pro: 500/month
• Business: 2,000/month

Once the limit is reached, automatic comment evaluation pauses until the next month.
I'm worried normal comments might be hidden
If you are worried, start with a small set of target posts. If a comment is hidden by mistake, you can restore it from the dashboard right away.
Which posts should I include first in moderation?
Start with 1 to 3 posts that receive the most comments.

This makes review easier and safer than enabling all posts at once.
How can I reduce false positives?
Review hidden comments regularly and restore wrong cases quickly.

Best practice: check daily for the first 1 to 2 weeks to learn patterns early.

Threads Features

What is Threads Growth?
Threads Growth helps you decide what to post next on Threads.

It looks at your past post results and creates draft ideas, so you can post faster and keep improving.
What should I do first?
This order works best:
① Connect your Threads account
② Sync your posts
③ Choose your goal (for example, reach or engagement)
④ Generate a draft
⑤ Review and publish
Can I use it even if I have few posts?
Yes. With fewer posts, suggestions are more basic at first, but quality improves as you keep posting.

Even a few posts per week can help the system learn.
What does draft generation create?
It mainly creates:
- an opening line
- a body flow
- a closing line

You can adjust tone and details before publishing.
What is the difference between Standard and Comment Expansion?
Standard creates one complete post.
Comment Expansion is designed to continue the conversation after posting.

Use Standard when you want a clean main post, and Comment Expansion when you want more replies.
What changes when I turn knowledge on?
When on, drafts use your registered knowledge (service details, examples, policies).

When off, drafts are more general. Keep it on if you want posts that match your business context.
Can I publish AI drafts as-is?
You can, but please check these first:
① Facts and numbers are correct
② Wording matches your voice
③ No confusing statement for readers

A quick 30-second review improves quality a lot.
What if suggestions do not fit my needs?
Try this:
① Change the goal
② Switch the post type
③ Add or edit knowledge
④ Re-sync recent posts that performed well
Where do I publish to Threads?
Use the publish button in the draft list. A final confirmation screen appears before posting, so you can fix wording and typos.
What should I do if Threads features show errors?
Please check:
① Threads connection is active
② Sync runs successfully
③ Retry after a short wait

If it still fails, use the contact form on app.getautodm.com/faq and mention 'Threads error'.
What if drafts are too long or too short?
Adjust in this order:
① Keep one clear core message
② Limit support points to 2 or 3
③ Keep one clear next action

When unsure, publish shorter first and add details in the next post.
How should I choose post mode by goal?
Use this guide:
- Reach: Standard mode with clear takeaway
- Replies: Comment Expansion with a question
- Service lead flow: Knowledge ON

One post should focus on one goal only.
What should I check before publishing?
Check these 4 points:
① Facts and numbers are correct
② Audience is clear
③ One post = one message
④ Next reader action is clear

This 30-second check keeps quality stable.
What should I review weekly to improve?
Review these 3 points each week:
① Common patterns in high-response posts
② Why low-response posts underperformed
③ One improvement to test next week

Change one thing at a time for repeatable learning.

Troubleshooting

I can't connect my Instagram

How do I connect an account managed via Business Manager?
Accounts managed through Meta Business Suite can be connected. Select your account during Instagram authentication. 'Full Control' permissions are required.
How do I check if my Instagram is a Professional (Business/Creator) account?
Open Instagram → Profile → ≡ Menu → Settings and Privacy → Account → If you see 'Switch to Professional account', you're on a personal account.

If you're already on a Professional account, you'll see 'Switch to Personal account' instead. AutoDM requires a Business or Creator account.
I see 'Authentication required' after login
This can happen when your account does not have a usable email address.

Please make sure your Google account has a valid email address, then log in to AutoDM again.
The payment page does not open
This may fail in an in-app browser. Please open the page in Safari or Chrome. If needed, copy the URL and open it in an external browser.
I need urgent help
Please use the contact form at the bottom of this page and include 'Urgent' in the subject. Also include the screen name and time when the issue happened.
What should I do if the connection suddenly drops?
First check connection status in Settings. If disconnected, reconnect and log in again. After that, run one test to confirm it is working.
What details should I send to support for faster help?
Please include:
① Which screen had the issue
② The time it happened
③ What action you took
④ The exact message shown
A screenshot helps us respond faster.
What should I do when I see "Failed to fetch data"?
Try this order:
① Refresh the page
② Log out and log in again
③ Check connection status (Instagram / Threads)
④ Retry after a short wait

If still failing, contact support with time and screen name.
Do you have a support message template?
Use this template:
"At [time], on [screen], I did [action], then saw [error message]. I already tried refresh and re-login."

A screenshot helps speed up support response.

Plans & Billing

What can I do with the free plan?
The free plan includes 1 automation rule, up to 25 actions per month (comment replies only), and up to 50 AI moderation checks per month (auto-detection and hiding). AI DM is available up to 10 replies per month, and Threads AI Growth generation is available up to 10 times per month. DM sending is available on paid plans.

DM Booking Forms can be created and previewed on the free plan, but publishing to accept actual bookings requires a Pro plan or above.
How do I change my plan?
Go to Sidebar → Settings → 'Plans & Billing' page, then click the 'Upgrade' button for your desired plan. Payments are securely processed by Stripe.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Go to the 'Plans & Billing' page → Click 'Manage Subscription'. You can cancel anytime. After cancellation, you can continue using plan features until the end of the current billing period.
Can I get a refund?
Since billing is monthly, prorated refunds are not available. After cancellation, future charges will be stopped.
When does downgrade to Free take effect?
Your current plan stays active until your next renewal date. After that date, your account switches to Free.
What happens when I hit a monthly limit?
When a limit is reached, auto-send and AI processing stop. You can wait for next month's reset or upgrade your plan to resume.
What happens if payment fails?
You will get an email notice. If you update your payment method and payment succeeds, service continues. If failure continues for a long time, plan features may be limited.
Where can I check billing date and renewal date?
Open Settings → Plans & Billing.

You can see renewal date, current plan, and payment status in one place.
When does a scheduled downgrade actually apply?
It does not switch immediately. Your current plan remains active until the current billing period ends.

The new plan starts right after the renewal date.
Where can I download invoices or receipts?
Open subscription management (Stripe page) from billing settings.

You can download invoice and receipt files for each payment record.
